Yet another week has ended, which means two things: 1) We’re one week closer to the release of next-gen systems and 2) another entry of the Weekly Wrap-Up is coming your way. Number 5
Wii Production Ending Soon
Gracing homes across the globe since 2006, the Nintendo Wii has been a huge success story for the house of Mario, selling over 100 million units worldwide to date although this figure could soon halt as Nintendo has updated its website to state that production of the console in Japan will be ending soon.
Although no further details have been given by the company (or from EU/NA representatives) it is a sad time to learn that the console will soon be stopped in a way, although it has been more than six years since the original remote-waggling behemoth first graced the world with its presence.

Sonic Returns for Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS
Another combatant has been announced to be returning for the next entry in the Super Smash Bros. series, and it’s none other than Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic’s announcement comes during today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast, where Satoru Iwata referred to our blue hero as the ‘blue blur.’ His reveal comes not too long after Toon Link was announced to be making a return as well.

Play Wii Games on the Wii U Gamepad
Nintendo has released a new
system update for the Wii U which allows gamers to take advantage of a whole range of new features, albeit the best being that you can now play Wii games through the Wii U GamePad.
Granted, you are still required to use a Wii Remote/Nunchuck when playing the games but thanks to the built-in sensor bar, you can literally just place the Wii U GamePad on a stand and use it as another television set entirely.

PlayStation App Launching on iOS/Android Alongside PlayStation 4
A new PlayStation App will be available for download on iOS and Android devices when the PlayStation 4 launches next month, Sony has announced.
The device, which will be free, allows users to stay in touch with the people on their friends’ list, compare Trophies and see what friends are up to while they’re online. The PlayStation Blog will also be accessible via the app.

Deus Ex: Universe Announced for PC and Next-Gen
Eidos Montreal has announced Deus Ex: Universe, an ‘ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games.’ Eidos aims to release content on a regular basis that continues to expand this universe and will be spread out across multiple platforms and mediums –including tablets, books and graphic novels.
The first part of this universe is already in production for PC and next-gen systems, with most of the Deus Ex: Human Revolution team working on it. Said Eidos-Montreal’s David Anfossi, “It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise.”
