E3 is upon us this weekend, and as such, several developers have taken the opportunity to reveal new, upcoming products and new additions to currently released titles. Ubisoft is no stranger to this, as they’ve revealed various portions of new projects, currently available titles, and upcoming releases.
Ubisoft is a designer that is well-known for titles like Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Watch:DOGS 2, and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Most of their single-player projects sell relatively well, so let’s see a few of the new products the French development studio has in store for us in 2021 and 2022.
Rainbow Six
Starting off with one of their biggest projects, Ubisoft revealed Rainbow Six: Extraction. The game is a completely different beast from the similarly titled Rainbow Six: Siege, while retaining most of the same movement and mechanics from the currently-released endeavor. You can watch the game’s trailer below.
The game looks to play like the Escalation mode of Gears 5, where you fight through hordes of Swarm to escape the map. Characters also have unique powers and weapons, similar to the characters in Rainbow Six Siege. It has up to four-player online cooperative play, and makes an effort to reinvent the wheel of what these characters can do. Crossplay was also confirmed, and matchmaking will presumably work within Ubisoft Connect.
Later in the show, though, they revealed the latest DLC character for Rainbow Six Siege, known as Thunderbird. You can watch her reveal trailer below.
Alongside Thunderbird’s animated trailer, Ubisoft also revealed that across the rest of this year and the start of 2022, they will be working to integrate crossplay with all platforms into this game, similar to Rainbow Six Extraction. This year, PC players will get crossplay and cross-progression first, and 2022, PlayStation and Xbox users will receive the service.
Rocksmith+
Rocksmith was also shown at Ubisoft’s E3 showcase. A long-known product of Ubisoft’s, originally released in 2011, it came out with the purpose of teaching its players how to play electric or acoustic guitar. Now, a decade later, the service has come out with a new service to enhance the experience. Entitled Rocksmith+, it aims to be a subscription service to add to those that already own Rocksmith. You can watch the trailer below.
Rocksmith+ looks to give more accurate music and note placement in their songs, and how you play will cause the AI to evolve based upon how you perform. Ubisoft also touts the library as being “massive”, and will be expanding on a weekly basis. More info will be available soon, and we’ll be sure to update you as it releases.
Far Cry 6
The Ubisoft E3 presentation also included Far Cry 6, which received a bit of a story trailer today. Focusing more on the lore of the world, the game follows Dani, the playable character, as she tries to spark a revolution against the game’s villain, Antón Castillo. Part of a story cinematic, as well as a cutscene featuring Antón, can be seen below.
Ubisoft also revealed that Far Cry 6 will be releasing with a Season Pass. The Season Pass also shows scenes from previous games such as Far Cry 3 and Vaas Montenegro’s iconic line “Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?” You can watch the Gold Edition and Season Pass trailer below.
Other Revealed Projects and Games
And now to finish off, let’s briefly run through a couple of other things that were revealed today. Riders Republic also got a beta sign-ups announcement. That game invites players to jump into an exhilarating social playground where they can experience the thrill of outdoor sports in an open and densely populated world. Players can roam freely with their friends in a huge and vibrant open world. You can watch its trailer below.
And finally, Watch:Dogs Legion also received a DLC announcement today, bringing back characters from previous series entries to explore London. In Watch Dogs: Legion, London is facing its downfall. Amidst the growing unrest of a restless London, an unknown entity named Zero-Day has framed secret underground resistance DedSec for coordinated bombings across London. You can watch the Watch:Dogs Legion DLC trailer below.
