The latest addition to the renowned Ubisoft series has released, and I am sure that many of you are already in the process of playing it. As you can read in my Assassin’s Creed Valhalla review, it seems that the French software house has finally succeeded in its task. Valhalla is a chapter that honors the series to which it belongs and which at the same time carries on the latest role-playing evolutions. In this regard, here is my complete Assassin’s Creed Valhalla XP and Power guide to help you during the adventure.
EXPERIENCE POINTS
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is obviously a title with a strong open world connotation, which has always been one of the characteristics of the brand. Over the years the series has developed and has embraced some variations useful for the rejuvenation of the formula, including the adoption of a progression system inspired by Western role-playing games. A bit like in The Witcher 3, in fact, since Origins it was possible to juggle level ups and skill trees that added depth to the action.
Even this adventure in 10th century England is no exception. XP in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will serve to increase Eivor’s overall Power. This will be unlocked by performing various actions. Basically, many actions will help you fill your special bar. Killing an enemy, for example, will grant you a small amount of XP.
By completing the main storyline of the title you will still get a fair amount of experience points, but if you want to get the most XP in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you should devote yourself to secondary activities. As in any self-respecting open world, in fact, Eivor, the protagonist, will be able to accept different tasks from as many characters scattered in the macro-areas he/she will visit.
Take note that you can’t see these missions on the map immediately. They will only activate if you speak to the interested parties. For this reason, therefore, you should talk to various different characters whenever you have the opportunity. In this way you will gain many more experience points and you will be able to perfect your Eivor build.
THE POWER OF VALHALLA
Power does not increase as your character progresses in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. On the other hand, however, every time you fill up your experience gauge (roughly 5000 XP for each level) you will get two skill points. And it is precisely using these skill points in your tree and at your leisure that will increase your overall power level. So, in reality, you could also decrease it by removing some skills and it is something functional within the game.
You can also get skill points from the Mysteries scattered around the game map, the blue points you see shining. Some Mysteries, such as the World Events that have replaced the side quests, grant a fair amount of XP. Others, on the other hand, will reward you with one or two skill points once completed. The figurines, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and temples are examples of Mysteries that will grant you skill points, with temples being more generous in general.
Leveling up your weapons and armor will grant you a damage and health boost, but will not actively contribute to your power level. You can check your character’s power level by looking for the number below your inventory. I repeat, this is a number that can increase only by spending skill points. Within the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the level of power will also affect the difficulty level of some areas and missions.
There are four different difficulty ranks, each characterized by a different color. Green shows that you are of a higher level of power than what the mission requires of you, and that will be quite easy to complete. White shows a power level equal to yours. If you see a red skull, I advise you to stay well away from that area or mission. Enemies will most likely kill you with a single shot.
However, there is a trick to address certain “red” areas. The power level will not drastically increase the health of your enemies, so you can simply tackle more complex areas using the stealth component. Or, if you’re good at parry and dodging, you can have fun paving your way the old way. But be careful: a single hit from enemies can be fatal to you!
