Fortnite has been a smash hit for Epic Games, which is pretty impressive for a game that is still in early access. The Battle Royale mode keeps getting more updates and is performing very well, especially on consoles where primary competitor PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds still has yet to release. The other side of Fortnite, the base-building, husk-smashing PVE mode, is about to get a spooky new Halloween update, called Fortnitemares.
Fortnitemares is replacing the current Horde mode event that is ongoing. Players have been working together as teams to build forts on a map together and then face off against waves of husks, smashers, and the like. The special characters and weapons are about to get put away for the foreseeable future, to make way for Fortnitemares. The new update brings with it a new zone called Hexsylvania, that looks to be populated with haunted castles, creepy crypts, and a new assortment of monsters to be taken on.
There are new heroes to be earned and found in the update, with new Halloween costumed variations like the Mummy ninja, or the Jason-masked constructor. Presumably you will be able to at least earn the legendary versions of these heroes through quests like the previous event, but also Legendary versions will more than likely pop up. Speaking of quests, there will be 25 new story quests for players to take on that should occupy players for the next number of weeks. There will also be some new weapons, such as the Pumpkin Launcher, as well as new traps. The new traps look pretty incredible, such as a floor trap that freezes enemies as they walk on it, and a ceiling trap that drops loads of tires on its victims. Fortnite keeps evolving and getting tweaks as it heads into being a fully-fledged F2P game next year. For now, players can continue to enjoy these new events and especially the new heroes and weapons that Epic keeps adding. Are you playing the game and are excited for Fortnitemares?
