Grayzone is an upcoming RTS/RPG hybrid from Slovakian developer EastWorks Studios.
Grayzone is the most recent game from the Slovakian developer who have formerly worked on Mafia III, Murdered Soul Suspect and Arma 3 among other games.
Promising a narrative driven experience, it focuses on a slave turning against his masters. The game is set in our galaxy hundreds of years from now. As a rebel escaping your former masters, you need help from the local people to survive.
Grayzone promises memorable characters, fun dialogs and a lot of action. Promised features include classic RTS gameplay, a tactical mode, new physics, hero customization, and a lot more.
The game focuses mostly on RTS combat, commanding large units and fighting grand battles. Though it focuses on achieving the best outcome with a minimal amount of losses. So unlike a lot of RTS games, it offers a tactical mode that freezes time.
This allows you to think ahead and choose the best strategy as well as issue orders to your units without having to worry about time progressing.
The game is coming to Early Access on Steam in March this year, with a price of $19.99. This version will include the first five missions of the first chapter, of which there will be 7 in total. And a later update will add the last two missions in the chapter.
The Early Access version includes all the core gameplay features, as well as music, voiceovers, sound, cutscenes and physics. Also new content and game mechanics will be added to the game when completed.
“We’re really excited to be releasing our game via Steam’s Early Access. This project has meant a lot to us over the last two years of development and we believe our great passion for the strategy genre combined with our storytelling process will resonate with gamers from all walks of life.”
– Studio founder Rudolf Staruch
At this point there is no word on whether the game will also come out on consoles. So for now it seems the game will be exclusive to Steam. So if you like RTS games and narrative driven games, this seems worth checking out!
And another early access game on Steam worth checking out would definitely be Wrath: Aeon of Ruin.
