Hitman 3 came with a bang! New maps, an unprecedented final story, and other gameplay innovations will entertain you for several hours. However, to make it even longer and within a single ecosystem, IO Interactive made sure that the contents of the first two chapters could also become available in the third. This makes it feel like remastered versions, benefiting from graphic innovations and new content. However, it is not an automatic and always easy process. Take note that you will have to go through a certain process for each situation. Here is my Hitman 3 how to transfer progress and maps from Hitman 1+2 guide.
NOT THAT SIMPLE
Replaying the old maps will certainly be fun, even more if you decide to do it with the PlayStation VR. However, it is not a very simple process. I created a guide around this issue to clarify the process. The developers have in fact made available a page that explains the steps, but it is not so intuitive. So let’s proceed with the first simpler phase, that of transferring the progress of your assassin to HITMAN 3. I will then move on to explore how to play the maps of Hitman 1 and 2.
YOUR PROGRESS
Game progress can only be transferred to Hitman 3 if it is coming from Hitman 2. Take note that you cannot transfer Hitman 1 data directly to Hitman 3. You will need to transfer the data from Hitman 1 to Hitman 2 first, then you can continue. The transfer can also only take place if the source platform is part of the same family.
- Hitman 2 (PlayStation) → Hitman 3 (PlayStation)
- Hitman 2 (Xbox) → Hitman 3 (Xbox)
- Hitman 2 (PC / Steam) → Hitman 3 (PC / Epic Games Store)
After completing this step, your progress on Hitman 2 will remain unchanged. However, pay particular attention to when you want to transfer them to the third chapter. If you have already started playing Hitman 3 and decide to switch later, you will lose all progress made up to that point on Hitman 3. I therefore recommend it to proceed with the operation on a blank page.
The process that allows you to switch is only possible if done outside the game through an internet browser. When the dedicated site is online, you will need to log into your IO Interactive account and follow the specific procedure. Finally, Google Stadia is a different platform from the PC one and the transition will take place automatically if you own the entire trilogy. Let’s now find out how to transfer maps from Hitman 1 and 2 to Hitman 3.
HITMAN 1 MAPS
Now we have arrived at the really complex part of this guide. For this reason, it will be divided into several parts to make it more understandable. Hitman 3 allows you to have access to the maps of Hitman 1 and 2 under one roof. However, this could have a cost depending on your situation. You can play these maps if you have previously or subsequently purchased the first two titles separately. If not, you can purchase them as “DLC” for Hitman 3 under the names of Access Pack 1 and 2.
If you have purchased the Hitman 1 Legacy Pack, Hitman 1 GOTY Legacy Pack, or Hitman 1 GOTY as DLC for Hitman 2 for consoles, you will unlock the same DLCs for free for the third chapter as well. If you have the disc version of Hitman 1 (Complete First Season or Definitive Edition), make sure you have the game installed. By doing this, you can transfer the data to the second chapter and have access to it on Hitman 3.
As for the PC version, the transition will be automatic if you have pre-purchased or purchased Hitman 3 on the Epic Games Store in the first 10 days of launch. This will give you access to the Hitman 1 GOTY Access Pass for free. This applies if you also own the copy that was given away on the store not so long ago. Let’s now find out how to transfer maps from Hitman 2 to Hitman 3.
HITMAN 2 MAPS
For consoles, if you own a digital copy of Hitman 2 Standard, Gold, or the Expansion pass, you will have access to their respective maps and Access Pass at no additional cost. You will only have to manually download them for free on the in-game shop. If, on the other hand, you have a physical copy, make sure you have the title installed.
After doing this, you will receive the Access Pass through the in-game store. On PC, this is a little less convenient. Since Hitman 2 is not present on the Epic Games store, you will have to buy its Access Pass. For Google Stadia, the transition is almost identical to that for game progress. If you have the complete Trilogy, everything will happen automatically.
CONCLUSION
Take note all the above mentioned steps are only possible if carried out through your own family of platforms. Hitman 1 is not mandatory, as you can also transfer the data from Hitman 2 with the Legacy Pack to Hitman 3. Please remember that passing data directly from Hitman 1 to 3 is not possible. Hitman 2 basically acts as the middleman. When buying or redeeming the Access Pass, your process will be much quicker and easier!
