San Diego Comic-Con has been the hotbed of news this week, as there have been many announcements around games, movies, and comics. One piece of information which trickled out yesterday, is that Kabam, a mobile games company, will be releasing a brawler called Marvel Contest of Champions.
Kabam issued a statement concerning their latest endeavor, announcing the title will be “high action, high fidelity”. Sam Humphries, best known for his work on Marvel’s John Carter: The Gods of Mars series and the Ultimate Comics Ultimates, has been signed up to be the writer for Marvel Contest of Champions.
Similar to how some of the recent Mortal Kombat titles work, players will select a character from a roster and then fight their way through a series of established Marvel characters. Along the way, players will assemble a team of fighters while experiencing fights in locations which are iconic to the Marvel Comics lore.
Marvel Contest of Champions will be released for smartphones and tablets this fall.
