The primary objective in Neon Abyss is to defeat 5 different bosses to complete the game. For the last two, however, it is not enough to normally go through the levels to face them, you will first need to collect a token that will provide you with access to their level. Make sure you read our Neon Abyss Ares and Athena guide below to find out how to get the tokens to defeat the last two bosses.
BETWEEN WISDOM AND VIOLENCE
If you have already completed several runs, you will have noticed the bar at the bottom right which can be of two types. That parameter changes according to the style of play adopted in the run. The purple bar shows your wisdom, it can be filled using the crystals to open the doors and the chests or defeating all the enemies of a room without being hit.
Instead, the red bar shows the violent style, which will increase by opening the doors and the red chests that will cause you to suffer damage. Take note that the two bars mentioned above are complete opposites, If you are going to perform actions of a certain style, then you will penalize the other.
Once you complete a bar go to the teleporters. At this point you will notice a bonus room away from the normal rooms. By accessing the secret room you can get unique objects depending on the style used. When you have mastered the desired style, you will not have difficulty in reaching and defeating Ares and Athena and completing Neon Abyss.
ARES – GOD OF VIOLENCE
The first of the two bosses we are looking at in this Neon Abyss guide is Ares, the god of violence. To reach Ares, you will need a token that can be found randomly in the Violence/Ares temples by filling the red bar as much as you can. Take note that you will need to go to the temple as often as possible, however, typically you will find the token after three times.
To quickly increase the red bar, hit the chests and the purple doors to turn them into red and open them. By doing this, you can avoid being hit by enemies and wasting precious health, the doors and chests will be enough to succeed in your goal. Be careful though, as in this case the temple of gods will cost you a health slot.
Try to use items and pets that will provide you with many shields in order to have enough health for the last stage. Take note that Ares is not so dangerous, and by that time you should be powerful enough to defeat him without too much effort. I strongly recommend that you redeem the weapon called “Destroyer” at the temple. It is one of the strongest weapons in the game that will help you a lot.
ATHENA – GODDESS OF ILLUSION
The second and final boss we are looking at in this Neon Abyss guide is Athena, the goddess of illusion. The objective of reaching Athena is similar to that of Ares. To obtain the Athena token, simply reach the temple by filling the purple bar as many times as possible.
However, filling the purple bar is more complicated than the red bar. In fact, the best way to fill it is to never get hit by enemies and quickly use the purple crystals on the chests before they can be hit. We also advise you to open the purple doors only when you are not focused on reaching Athena.
This way you can immediately start filling the purple bar by cleaning rooms from enemies. Unlike Ares, however, Athena could give you a very hard time, especially in her second phase. Arm yourself fully and explore the different levels as much as possible in order to get ready for the clash.
MASTER OF TWO STYLES
My Neon Abyss Ares and Athena guide ends here. By following my advice carefully, you will be able to master the two styles and complete the game in no time at all. Like any self-respecting roguelike, however, the challenge does not end here, you can in fact increase the difficulty level or continue to defeat the bosses to unlock new objects and characters.
