Netflix Geeked Week ran from June 7-11. The event featured multiple exciting announcements. We’ll be going through each of the major anime and gaming related announcements and updates we received.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Trailer
During Netflix Geeked Week livestream, Netflix revealed a brand new trailer and opening video clip for its upcoming CG anime series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The anime will release on Netflix worldwide on July 8 and will have four episodes.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Kingdom Release Date
During its Geeked Week livestream, Netflix revealed that it will launch the third installment in the Transformers: War for Cybertron series titled “Kingdom” on July 29. Polygon Pictures is animating the series. Rooster Teeth is producing the series with Polygon Pictures and Allspark Animation.
Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege, released on Netflix in July 2020, and Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy – Earthrise debuted on Netflix in December 2020.

Shaman King Global Release Date
Netflix also announced that the new TV anime adaptation of Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga will release on August 9. An English-subtitled trailer was also revealed. The anime premiered on April 1 in Japan and will have 52 episodes.

Exception Anime Announced
Netflix announced that it will stream a new space horror anime series titled Exception. The anime is based on a new story by novelist and film director Hirotaka Adachi (also known as “Otsuichi”). The anime will feature character designs by Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy). Yūzō will be directing the series.
Netflix describes the story as:
In the distant future, human beings have been forced to leave earth and migrate to another galaxy. An advanced team of spacecraft arrives at a planet that is to be terraformed. Each member of the team is output by a biological 3D printer.

Eden Zero Global Release Date
Netflix announced during its Geeked Week livestream that the TV anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima’s Edens Zero manga will release worldwide on the platform outside of Japan on August 26. An English-subtitled trailer was also released. The anime premiered in Japan on April 10.

Bright: Samurai Soul Staff Revealed
Netflix revealed additional staff members for its upcoming anime film Bright: Samurai Soul, based on the 2017 Bright live-action film.
The anime’s staff includes Kyōhei Ishiguro (Occultic;Nine, Children of the Whales) as director, Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Prison School, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin) as scriptwriter, Atsushi Yamagata (Urotsukidoji) as character designer. Arect is animating the film.

Make My Day Anime Film Announced
Netflix revealed more staff members for its upcoming anime film Make My Day, based on an original story by Yasuo Ohtagaki (Moonlight Mile, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt).
The anime’s staff includes Makoto Honda as director, Yumiko Yoshizawa as scriptwriter, Shoji Kawamori and Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Flip Flappers, FLCL Progressive, FLCL) as mechanical designers. Studio 5 Inc is producing the anime.

Far Cry and Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Series Revealed
Netflix announced that it will produce a Far Cry adult anime series as well as a new adult anime series based on the series titled Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. The creative team for the Far Cry series is still being assembled. However, it will be produced by Ubisoft’s Hélène Juguet, Hugo Revon, and Gérard Guillemot.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix will reportedly have six episodes. The series will be based on the Far Cry 3 expansion “Blood Dragon”. The anime was first announced as being in development in 2019.

Derek Kolstad, creator of the John Wick franchise, is onboard to write the series.

Splinter Cell Anime Details Revealed
Netflix also revealed a new visual and details on the upcoming Splinter Cell anime series. The anime will have eight episodes. The staff includes creator and executive producer Derek Kolstad (John Wick), and Juguet, Revon, and Guillemot as producers. Sun Creature and Fost are the producing the series.
The story follows former U.S. Navy SEAL Sam Fisher after he is recruited by the NSA to work for the mysterious Third Echelon division within the agency. The game sees Fisher engage in a number of black ops missions, employing stealth and military tactics.
Juguet, managing director of Ubisoft Film & Television – Paris commented on the news:
“Adult animation is one of the most powerful ways to pay tribute to the culture and community of gaming. It is truly inspiring to partner with creative talents such as Adi Shankar and Derek Kolstad to re-imagine our worlds for Netflix.”

Masters of the Universe: Revelation Revealed
Netflix revealed the first trailer for its upcoming He-Man animated series, titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The anime is set to begin streaming on Friday, July 23, 2021.
The series’ cast includes Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Chris Wood as Prince Adam/He-Man, Srah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root as Cringer, and more.
The series staff includes Kevin Smith as executive producer alongside his writing staff, which includes Marc Bernardin (Castle Rock), Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Diya Mishra (Magic the Gathering), and Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen). The animation production being done by Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania).

Castlevania Spin-off Series Announced
Netflix’s announced during the Geeked Week livestream that the Castlevania series is getting a new spin-off series, which is currently in development. The new series will star Richter Belmont, son the original show’s protagonists Sypha and Trevor, and Maria Renard. The two are also protagonists of the Castlevania: Rondo of Blood game. The series will be set in France during the French Revolution in 1792.

The Witcher Season 2 Teaser
During the Netflix Geeked Livestream, a very short teaser clip was shown for The Witcher season 2. It features Ciri and her story. The Witcher series is based on the novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The first season released in 2019. Netflix also announced a live-action spinoff set 1,200 years before Geralt’s time, along with an upcoming anime called Nightmare of the Wolf. Filming of season 2 wrapped up in April.

The Cuphead Show Teaser
Netflix showed a brief teaser for its upcoming show based on the Cuphead game, titled The Cuphead Show. Netflix also announced that Wayne Brady will voice King Dice. Studio MDHR first announced that The Cuphead Show was in development in 2019.

Arcane Animated Series Teaser Trailer
Netflix revealed a two-minute teaser trailer for its upcoming animated series Arcane, which is based on Riot’s popular strategy game League of Legends. The series was first revealed in 2019 and is “set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League champions-and the power that will tear them apart.”
