CD Projekt RED might be mostly related to their Cyberpunk 2077 game nowadays. But the company has several games under their belt. In addition to their acclaimed The Witcher series, they also have a card game related to it.
GWENT is the official card game for The Witcher and released in May. It’s currently free on GOG.com and Steam. It’s already gotten very positive reviews on both platforms. It seems worth trying out if you’re into card games and The Witcher. But let’s take a look at the new expansion.
Master Mirror Expansion
The Master Mirror Expansion revolves around Gaunter O’Dimm. He’s a character that most will recognize from the Heart Of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3. The character is known for being extremely powerful and shrouded in mystery. He is seemingly capable of controlling time at will, and creates pacts with people in exchange for their souls.
The expansion brings over 70 new cards. This includes 11 neutral cards and 6 unique legendary faction cards. The legendary cards change their appearance and skills during battle.
There are also a bunch of new abilities, defensive and offensive, waiting to be mastered. Veil allows players to shield a unit from negative statuses, and also prevent enemies from gaining beneficial ones. Devotion enhances the abilities of cards with that keyword. Though only if the deck consists solely of faction-specific cards.
Gaunter’s Ultimate Challenge
To celebrate the release of the new expansion, a special event is being held. Called “Gaunter’s Ultimate Challenge“, during this event players can support their favorite factions, and fight for unique titles and other prizes. The challenge lasts from June 30th to August 5th.
With the new event and expansion, now is definitely a good time to check out GWENT if you haven’t. You can check out more about the gameplay here. Also, check out our review of Cloudpunk if you are hyped about Cyberpunk 2077.
