So, NHK made a poll for Final Fantasy fans in Japan. The Japanese public broadcaster has recently revealed the results of the poll. The Final Fantasy Grand Poll was aired on Saturday night and the results can be quite surprising for the American audience.
Top 30 Best Final Fantasy Games
Here’s the first result of the Final Fantasy Grand Poll in Japan. Surprisingly, Final Fantasy XIII is considered to be better than XIII-2. Meanwhile, VIII is featured in the Top 10 choices despite the fact it has been featured in several “Worst FF lists” (Or this one thread in KH13) in America.
Without further ado, here are the results
- Final Fantasy X (2001)
- Final Fantasy VII (1997)
- Final Fantasy VI (1994)
- Final Fantasy IX (2000)
- Final Fantasy XIV (2013-Current)

- Final Fantasy Record Keeper (2014-Current)
Even more surprising. Final Fantasy Record Keeper is currently sitting at the #30 spot. No other mobile Final Fantasy game is included here. Of course, you wouldn’t expect something like All the Bravest to be part of the list. But, the fact that Record Keeper managed to surpass games like Dirge of Cerberus, Dissidia OperaOmnia, and Brave Exvius is quite surprising.
Top 10 Best Final Fantasy Music
The Final Fantasy Grand Poll also included a section where Japanese players talked about their favorite Final Fantasy soundtracks. Of course, there’s a little bit of prominence from the VII soundtrack… Just a tad.

Well, here’s Japan’s list and, of course, Cloud is taking the number 1 spot. Meanwhile, the number 10 spot is taken over by Zack Fair himself.

- Emet-Selch (XIV)
- Tidus (Tiida) (X)
- Lightning (XIII)
- Tifa (VII)

Top 10 Best Bosses / Summons
This is an odd category to put together. However, it seems like NHK wanted to find if Japan liked one over the other. Not to mention, in some of the Final Fantasy iterations you get to fight summons to acquire them as part of your arsenal. So, here’s the result of the Final Fantasy Grand Poll.
- Knights of the Round (VII)
- Kefka (VI)
- Hades (XIV)
- Anima (X)
- Omega (V)
- Valefor (X)
- Braska’s Final Aeon (X)

What a strange category to place this in. Nonetheless, it appears that NHK aimed to determine which one was more popular in Japan.
