Sakura Wars, an upcoming title from SEGA, received a new trailer. The game is currently out now for Japan and is set to release at the end of April internationally. The game is also a PlayStation 4 exclusive title, so, unfortunately, no other console will be able to play it.
You can watch the new trailer below:
What is Sakura Wars?
Sakura Wars, for those not following, is a game that focuses on 3v3 team-based combat in giant mechs. The player chooses two of their teammates to compete in the Combat Revue World Games (more on that in a bit), in various combat challenges.
Before that, the player takes control of Seijuro Kamiyama. The plot centers around your Imperial Combat Revue, known as the Flower Division, as you face potential disbandment. Your team has only one opportunity to prove that the need for disbanding is unnecessary, at the Combat Revue World Games.
The Combat Revue World Games
The Combat Revue World Games where Combat Revues the world over compete in elaborate stage battles. Aside from proving which teams work better, they also display the teams’ skill and combat prowess to the general public. Notable teams in attendance come from Shanghai, London and Berlin.
The way the Games work is in a three-on-three best-of-three format, in a points system. Teams can score points by destroying targets located around the tournament area. Points contribute to a tug-of-war-like meter.
This tug-of-war meter is integral in deciding which team wins at the end of the day. Victory comes in one of two manners; either overpowering your opponent in the previously mentioned gauge, or by scoring the most points overall at the end of the match.
Sakura Wars releases April 28th on PlayStation 4 internationally. For more information on the game, you can visit SEGA’s Sakura Wars website here.
