During its panel for Anime Expo Lite 2021, Pony Canyon revealed that Funimation will stream the upcoming anime adaptation of Sana Kirioka’s Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi (Taisho Maiden Fairytale) manga this fall alongside other details about the anime, and revealed additional cast and a new visual for its upcoming anime film DEEMO Memorial Keys.
Taisho Otome Fairy Tale Anime Details
The anime’s official website also revealed a new promotional video. The video previews Shunichi Toki’s song “Makokoro ni Sō.”The anime will premiere in October. Additionally, Shueisha revealed that the series is getting a new spinoff mang titled Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi: Enseika no Shokutaku (A Pessimist’s Dining Table). The manga is set to release on the Shonen Jump+ website and app on July 23.
The anime’s staff includes Hatori Jun (Beyblade: Metal Fury) as director, Fukuda Hiroko (Hayate the Combat Butler) as scriptwriter, and Watanabe Mayumi (Fairy Tail) as character designer. The animation production will be from SynergySP.
The anime’s cast includes Yūsuke Kobayashi as Shima Tamahiko, Saya Aizawa as Tachibana Yuzuki, Yume Miyamoto as Shima Tamako, Chika Anzai as Atsumi Ryo, Ayasa Itō as Shiratori Kotori, and Shunichi Toki as Shiratori Hakaru.
The Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine from 2015 to 2017. Kirioka then published a sequel titled Showa Otome Otogi Banashi in the Shonen Jump+ website, with the fifth and final volume planned for July 3.
Pony Canyon’s YouTube channel released the first promotional video and describes the anime’s story as:
The setting is the Taisho Era. Tamahiko, a young man who disappointed his parents after losing the use of his right hand in an accident, is forced to move out of his home under the guise of rehabilitation. Resentful of everything in life, he becomes withdrawn and pessimistic when one day a woman named Yuzuki knocks on his door. She claims she has been sent there by his father to be his bride…
DEEMO Memorial Keys Anime Film Gets new Staff and Visual
Pony Canyon also revealed a new visual and additional cast for its upcoming anime film DEEMO Memorial Keys (Deemo: Sakura no Oto – Anata no Kanadeta Oto ga, Ima mo Hibiku). Newly added cast members include Akari Kitō as Sania and Ayane Sakura as Rosalia. Previously revealed cast members include Hinatazaka46 idol group member Akari Nibu as the Masked Lady and Ayana Taketatsu as Alice.
The film’s staff includes Jun’ichi Fujisaku as executive director, Shūhei Matsushita as director, Yoshihiro Hiramine as assistant director, Fujisaku as scriptwriter, Bun’Ō Fujisawa and Mebachi as character designers, and Yuki Kajiura (Demon Slayer, Sword Art Online, Fate/Zero) as music composer. Hinano Takashima will perform the theme song “Yubikiri-Genman.” The animation production will be from Signal.MD and Production I.G. Pony Canyon is producing the film.
The film is based on the 2013 mobile rhythm game, Deemo, which launched on iOS and Android. A sequel to the game is currently in development. Rayark Games developed the game and describes it as:
A girl who fell from the skies and lost her past
Deemo who plays the piano all alone in the world of the treehouse
an accidental encounter between the two.
The music flows as the fingers hit the piano keys.
The start of a fairytale journey has begun…
