Yet another week has gone by this month, so it’s that time again to round up all the most notable anime and manga news we received throughout the week.
Golden Kamuy Season 3 New Trailer and Premiere Date
The official website for the TV anime adaptation of Golden Kamuy recently revealed more details for the anime series, which includes a premiere date of October 5 in Japan, and a new Promotional Video featuring the new opening and ending themes for the season.
For those unfamiliar with Golden Kamuy, a synopsis for the series via Crunchyroll can be seen below:
The story takes place in the mighty Northern field of Hokkaido, the time is in the turbulent late Meiji Era. A post war soldier Sugimoto, aka, “Immortal Sugimoto” was in need of large sums of money for a particular purpose…. What awaited Sugimoto, who stepped into Hokkaido’s Gold Rush with dreams of making a fortune, was a tattoo map leading to a hidden treasure based on hints inscribed on the bodies of convicts in Abashiri Prison?! The magnificent nature of Hokkaido vs vicious convicts and the meeting with a pure Ainu girl, Ashiripa!! A survival battle for a hidden treasure hunt begins!

Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III Premiere Date
Earlier this week, ANN announced that the third season for the fan-favorite anime series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Will begin airing on October 2 in Japan. The season was initially scheduled to be released in July, but was delayed due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan.
Kuroneko if 2nd Volume
The official Twitter account for Tsukasa Fushimi’s Oreimo and Eromanga Sensei light novel series announced earlier this week that the second and final volume of the “Kuroneko if” story is set to be released in Japan on February 10, 2021.
For those unfamiliar with the light novel, a synopsis from the official website via ANN can be seen below:
“Under the fireworks, I’m going to confess to Kuroneko.”
It’s June of our third year in high school. The captain of the game research club proposes a summer camp for interviewing. At first, Kuroneko hadn’t planned to participate in the camp, but with the encouragement by her father and sisters, she decides to join. Once the camp starts, I and Kuroneko spend a great summer vacation, chatting with the Akagi brother and sister on the bullet train, watching the sunset on the ferry deck, taking a dip in the outdoor hot tub, testing out courage, and playing with fireworks, on a remote island with plenty of nature. One day, we meet a girl named Haruka Makishima. Haruka, who is well versed in fortune telling and occult stuff, hits it off with Kuroneko and asks to accompany her on an interview to learn about the island’s “celestial maiden legend.” Then, we have a mysterious experience there.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 20 Million Copies
Earlier this week, Japanese publisher Micro Magazine announced that the popular manga and light novel series Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken or That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and its various manga adaptations had surpassed 20 million copies in print.

Fruits Basket Another Manga Ending
Fruits Basket Another Manga creator Natsuki Takaya recently announced on her Twitter account Via ANN that the current “chapter 13” of the Fruits Basket Another manga will “tentatively” be the last chapter of the manga, and clarified she currently has no plans to write a story from the point of view of the “adults and parents” in the story.
Homunculus Live-action Adaptation
ANN announced earlier this week, that Hideo Yamamoto’s Homunculus manga will be getting a live-action adaptation to premiere in 2021.
For those unfamiliar with the manga a synopsis can be found below:
Homunculus is about a man named Nakoshi who sleeps in his car in a parking lot between a hotel and a park. Each day he wakes up, tunes his car a bit, and eats with his homeless acquaintances. He seemingly has no money whatsoever and has no motive for being where he is, as well as a nonexistent history.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Creator to Start a New Series
Earlier this week, the official Twitter account for The Ancient Magus’ Bride (Mahō Tsukai no Yome) manga creator Kore Yamazaki announced that the creator s currently working on a new series that will launch a new manga series next spring or summer. Not much else is known about the new series.
Great Pretender Manga Goes on Hiatus
The official Twitter account for the Mag Comi website recently announced that the Great Pretender manga adaptation would be going on hiatus due manga creator Daichi Marui’s health condition, with a return date left undecided.
The Netflix anime which the manga is based of, describes the series as such:

Violet Evergarden The Movie Gets a New Trailer
To celebrate the upcoming release of Violet Evergarden The Movie, Kyoto Animation has released a new trailer as well as detailing concession items moviegoers in Japan can look forward to having while watching the film. These items include a Violet Evergarden popcorn box, a paper tray featuring Violet, and a clear file with an exclusive key visual on it.
Violet Evergarden The Movie premieres in theaters on September 18 in Japan.
Burn the Witch Manga Sequel
It was announced in the 41st issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine via ANN that Bleach creator Tite Kubo is currently drawing a “season 2” sequel for his new Burn the Witch manga. The announcement also revealed that the series will be receiving a 260-page first compiled volume on October 2, and will feature exclusive color illustration and a double-sided full-color pinup poster, plus the original one-shot for the manga.
