Granblue Fantasy Versus’ version 1.40 update released two nights ago from Cygames and XSEED. This update serves as a content update for the game’s offline modes and features, such as expanding the game’s RPG mode. Along with this information, Cygames also announced their partnership with Arc System Works, with Granblue being featured in the upcoming ARCREVO America Online.
Aside from the new gameplay options, the information revealed concluded with a character reveal and a character teaser for Season 2. Popular Granblue villain Belial will be starting off Character Pass 2 for Granblue Fantasy Versus. Let’s get into reviewing the information shown today.
Update 1.40 and New Reveals
Granblue Fantasy Versus’ version 1.40 added three new things for players to do with the RPG Mode’s content. First and foremost, it added additional RPG Mode chapters, giving potentially more worldbuilding and more fights for players to enjoy. Secondly, Boss Battle Time Attack was added to the game, in which players compete against each other to see who can take down bosses faster. A third mode, named GBVS Blitz was also added, but it applies to Ranked Matches rather than RPG Mode.
Aside from new modes added, Cygames revealed Belial as the first Season 2 DLC character (seen above). From the gameplay, it gives the impression that all of his projectiles can be manipulated, and that most of his options exist to overwhelm the opponent. Season 2 begins on September 24th (Belial’s release date) and has new balance changes, Ranked Match ratings being reset, and the Character Pass 2 becoming available.
At the end of the trailer, one of the intro cinematics for the second character, Cagliostro, was also teased, as well as her release window (late October). We’ll continue to update as Character Pass 2 information is revealed.
Granblue Fantasy Versus is out now for PlayStation 4 and Steam.
